- What is the dress code?
- Business Casual or "Smart" Casual Attire. Jackets are not required, though many people do wear them. Jeans are permitted as long as they are neat. Baseball caps are not permitted.
- Do you have a liquor license?
- Yes, we have a full bar with a full wine list [pdf] including more than fifteen varieties of draft and bottle beers, including our own Shanghai Jazz® Ale.
- Do you charge a music cover?
- No. There is no music cover charge, and world-class live jazz is complimentary, unless otherwise noted by a Special Event. There are simply food and drink minimums, ranging from $15 to $35 per person (not including tax and tip). The only time there may be a music cover charge is during Special Events.
- I see you have two seatings on Friday nights: 6:30 and 8:30, and Saturday nights: 6:30 & 8:45. How does this work?
- There are 2 dinner seatings/show times on these evenings. You select one of the two seatings and enjoy dinner while you enjoy the music. You may move to the bar, space permitting, after the first seating if you wish to continue to enjoy the music. Or come early and relax at the bar until your table is ready at the second seating / show time.
- Do I need a reservation?
- Yes, we strongly recommend reservations. You can reserve by calling 973.822.2899 or by e-mailing info@shanghaijazz.com. It's like getting tickets to a show, so you need to reserve in order for us to confirm a seat for the live jazz show.
- What credit cards do you accept?
- All major credit cards: Visa, Master Card, American Express, Diners Club, and Discover.
- Do you have a private room?
- Yes, we have a private room with fireplace and bar which is perfect for corporate functions and special occasions. We also have semi-private areas in the main room and we can host cocktail parties in the main bar as well. - Do you have gift certificates?
- Yes, we have gift certificates available in any denomination. We can also create special gift packages bundled with gift certificates, "Live at Shanghai Jazz" CDs" and T-shirts and other goodies. Perfect for Any Occasion -- from birthdays and anniversaries to holidays and Corporate Gift-Giving. Perfect for Mom, Dad, Teachers, Bosses, Employees and Yourself! For your convenience gift certificates may be ordered and sent to you or your recipient directly.
- Do you have birthday cakes?
- We do a wonderful birthday sampler featuring our signature desserts served on an impressive platter with sparkling candles. You may reserve one by telling us at the time of reservation or by telling the host or server when you arrive. It's a great way to surprise the birthday girl or guy with a special celebration dessert sampler created especially for you.
- Do you have Take-out? Catering?
- Yes, we have a special take-out menu which can be faxed to you by calling 973.822.2899 or emailing us at info@shanghaijazz.com. Its prices are less than the eat-in dinner menu. We also do off-premises corporate catering.
- What days are you open?
- We are open every day for dinner except Monday. We are open for Lunch on Fridays only. We do on occasion open for large groups on a Monday under special circumstances. You can see our hours here.
